The registration period for the ninth edition of Hackathon Cámara Castellón is now open and will remain open until February 24, 2025. Participation is free of charge. This year’s theme, “Technology and well-being: Technological innovation with a positive impact on people’s lives and the city,” will guide the challenges and solutions.
Nayar’s xhallenge: Alert system for monitoring extreme temperatures in public spaces
Nayar has proposed developing an alert system to monitor extreme temperatures in public spaces. This system will involve the creation of temperature-monitoring stations in public areas (parks, squares, public transport stations, etc.) to warn citizens of extreme temperature conditions (both high and low). The objective is to help people take preventive actions to avoid health risks, such as heatstroke or hypothermia.
Categories and participant profiles
Building on the previous edition’s model, the event aims to attract a broader and more diverse audience. The “Professional” category has been eliminated, but participation from various profiles is still encouraged. The categories include:
- Schools (Primary, Secondary, and extracurricular activities) and High Schools.
- High School Graduates, Vocational Training Students, and University Students.
Submission deadlines and prizes
Participants in Hackathon Cámara Castellón 2025 will work remotely with their teams and will submit their proposals in video format by May 7. On May 13, a panel of judges will select five finalists from each category (10 finalists in total) in a private event. These finalists will be announced on May 15 via email, website, and social media and will be invited to the in-person final event, set for mid-June, at the Cámara de Comercio Castellon’s auditorium. There, the finalist teams will present their solutions to an expert jury.
Throughout the process, which eliminates the requirement for 48 continuous hours of physical presence, a more relaxed and innovative working environment will be fostered. Teams will have more time to develop their solutions and will benefit from ongoing mentorship and supervision from the organizing team and the sponsoring companies.
The winning solutions will be selected by the jury, with the top three projects in each category receiving the following prizes:
- First place: Valued at over €500, awarded in cash or services.
- Second place: A set of speakers.
- Third place: Wireless headphones.
